Portland

We did a big day of driving from Goolwa to Portland trying hard to chase the sunshine & leave the rain behind- we did it!!! I found the most amazing treasure trove somewhere on route packed to the rafters with vintage goodness. Ohh the treasures I could have snaffled up if we had the room in the trailer. I did get an old ensign flag as an anniversary present for Eric. It was bugging him wondering what I'd bought- he found out today and loved it. We have been married for 18 years today. I can't imagine where all that time has gone & how we got so old. We are kindred spirits and soul mates with so much to be grateful for. He bought me a cute little silver fish necklace because I have finally discovered and embraced fishing. As the mother of 3 boys I think I may as well give in to it ;)
We had a lovely day today exploring Portland. What a surprising little town it is. We had a lovely lunch on the lawn, met up with friends & tried our luck with the fishing rods. No luck with the rods today but what a delight it was to cross paths with the Sansoms and the Vanderlights. They were on Kangaroo Island while we were but we didn't manage to find each other. How lovely that they came to seek us out. I wish we had thought to get a photo together.
No better way to finish off a special day than with a seafood dinner & champagne. I love my life :)

I forgot to mention the echidna we spotted on the side of the road. We had to stop to have a closer look.
